Atleast a RAID 1 system, with nightly backups and weekly backup stored offsite.
Medium capacity SATA hard drives; 200-400 gigs each.
For business related data: RAID 5 system, with atleast 4 320 gig SATA drives in dedicated server. All drive formatted NFTS for Windows Server environment.
Why: RAID 1/5 for redundancy. Backups to help ensure little/no data is lost in the event of catostrophic hardware failure, act of God, fire, theft, etc.
SATA drives due to speed and emerging dominance in the market.
Medium size capacity because I just don’t need that much storage space right now. I find that if I have a lot more space than I need I tend to keep files that I don’t need. Any really old data than gets moved to seperate device for archiving.

Get an external hard drive and back up your datas there.
Depending on how much datas you have now they offer
those small usb flash drive who goes up to 4GB so that’s
the easy way to go. If you have a lot I recommend an external hard drive . If they are too pricey then buy a regular hard drive and purchase an “hard drive enclosure” and stick your regular drive in it , it comes with a USB so you can connect to your PC like an external hard drive. That’s what I did I got a 500GB hard drive , purchased
a hard drive enclosure for $30 and hooked it up to my PC the cost is 50% less that if I had purchased a traditional external hard drive.
    Good luck,
    Joe.
