What Is The Largest Storage Capacity Cd-r That I Can Use To Back Up Photos?

Usually, you are going to get CD s with 700 MB, but you may also chance upon some with 800 MB storage capacity. If all your photos occupy a total of more than 2 GB of space, it will be a better idea to keep them in a blank DVD.

The largest you can buy, I have seen 800 mb one’s but they are ten times more to buy than cheap 700’s I would stick to 700’s myself or get another type of back up.

700 – 850 MB is about the largest you will get on the commercial side. However, DVD-R is over 4.5GB in size. I would highly recommend you upgrade to one and use that instead. Not as many disks needed to back up files with DVD.

As far as CD-Rs go, the highest (feasibly) is 768 MB. However, for like 30 to 40 dollars these days, you can get a reliable DVD-/+ RW DL drive that can write up to 9.4 GB on a dual layer DVD. I would recommend that seeing as though DVDs are the future form of media and that it can hold so much more.
